There are pictures on this page so please wait untill they load. Thanks.

The Olympic or as she became to know "Old Reliable" was the first of the 3 sister ships the 1st of the Olympic class ships. These ship where going to be the bigest in the world. Olympic was made Harland & Wolff the keel (400) of the Olympic was laid on 16th December 1908.

Olympic was then launched on October 20th 1910 her launched was watched by heps of people more people kick up a fuss over Olympic then Titanic! Mostly what i think is because then she was the bigest ship in the world the big steamer in the world. Olympic was differnt to her twin sister Titanic by this: Toward the front of B deck, the Olympic has open windows, and the promenade deck was fully open for its entire length. The Titanic on the other hand was fitted with a windowed cover over one third of the length of the promenade deck, and the windows on deck B had irregular spacing. Thought you could`nt realy see it from far away some people did mastick it for the Titanic which you would to of couse. She could rech a speed around about 21 1/2 knots or 23 as of herd tho these huge liners wernt realy made for speed. Speed went out a few years back they where now on to big & luxurious. Because of the new ships that the Curnard Line brought out Lusitania and Mauritania these ship where big and had a greet speed at about 24 to 25 knots which was fast and Lusitania got the blue ribe for fast corrsing of the North Atlantic. So this mean Curnard Line was geting more people and geting better then White Star Line so a Dinner Bruce Ismay went to the house of Lord Perrie who was a member of Harland & Wolff these ships had  to hold at lest 3500 people and allso be very luxurious.

For the first few voyages Captain E.J. Smith was in contol caption of the ship. It was moring and Olympic departed Southampton on the 20th September 1911 shortly after noon she was trveling her nomel harbour speed at 19 knots as all ships had to go thow the harbour at this speed,  when she saw the 7350 ton British Cruiser Hawke both ship where on parallel courses for some of the distance. She was about 200 to 300 yeards apart when Hawke seemed to get close to the larger liner but they hit. The damaged to Hawke was the bow was very badly damged and with the Olympic there was gashs one above the water line and one below and the starboard propeller was very badly damaged and a little bit of the crank shaft and required replacing. But the both made it back to port and there own stem Olympic with the port side propeller and the Center propeller. There was no loss of life on any ship. And Olympic was held responsible for the accident. Olympic was still in the commercial service in war she was called to save a ship Audacious which had a stuck a mine she got there because she was a British ship off the coast of Ireland. She then became a naval transport most commercial lines did but Olympic because of her size was even better. She done more of the war by cerrying soldages every where. In the war she was pant with very dazzling colours, with very bright geometric shapes on a yellow background, to confuse enemy submarines and other enemys. See below.

Above Damaged to the R.M.S Olympic after she struck the Hawke. This was to cost half of what she was made.

In march 1916 she had to go back to White star Line she need some defence so she was fit with six inch guns mostly for submarine defence. In May 1918 she was on her 22nd troop carrying voyage s She was then attacked by German submarine U-103. A torpedo was fired but by the power of the Olympic she missed it by quick evasive action she then done a very brave think She turned on her attacker and rammed it! The shock was nothing for Olympic well she is a 46,000 ton liner. The war had end she made impressive record of service. She had transported 41,000 civilian passengers, 66,000 troops (American and Canadian), 12,000 members of a Chinese labor battalion. She had steamed 184,000 miles and burned 347,000 tons of coal. This is why she became known as "Old Reliable". She is one great liner.

She was back in the North Atlantic by the 1920 she made fifteen years made hundreds of crossings by now she had merged with Cunard line make it the Cunard White Star This Cunard line was the reason the made the RMS Olympic come to life. It was May 15th 1934 during heavy fog she rammed the Nantucket lightship and seven of the eleven crew members were lost. She was geting old and out of date she start to lose bussiness to newer ships she made her final voyage to New York in March 1935. She then sadly got sold, stripped and eventually scrapped.

Olympic was the largest British liner until the Queen Mary.
